Tattoo Removal
Decorative tattoos have a history dating back at least 5000 years. The desire to remove them has probably existed just as long.
Early attempts to remove tattoos have had less than desirable results. The use of dermabrasion, salabrasion and Argon or CO2 lasers have left behind scars in place of the tattoo.
The advent of the Q-Switched lasers has permitted the removal of most tattoo inks with a very low risk of scarring. EC Medical Group uses the state of the art Medlite Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser from Continuum. The Medlite can significantly lighten or remove many tattoo inks, and is particularly advanced in the removal of blue, black and red inks.
The Medlite laser removes tattoo ink with the energy of light. Just as natural sunlight is made up of light wavelengths of many colors, a laser is a device which is designed to produce one or more specific wavelengths of light. These wavelengths are either absorbed, reflected or simply passed through objects. Tattoo ink is removed by using a specific wavelength which passes through the skin but is absorbed by the ink. The rapid absorption of light energy causes the tattoo ink to destruct, where it is then removed by the body's natural filtering systems.
Quick and easy, can be performed at lunch or anytime.

- Significantly lightens or removes most tattoos.
- Completely safe and effective.
What to expect
Each patient and tattoo are different and therefore each treatment is unique. Our staff will work with the patient to determine the likely results and how long it may take to remove the tattoo. The pictures below give an example of what the Medlite laser is capable of.

Laser Vein Removal
What are spider veins?
Spider veins are small, enlarged blood vessels that appear red or blue. These dilated vessels may be short, unconnected lines, each about the size of a large hair. Or, they may be connected in a matted "sunburst" pattern. They may also look like a spider web or a tree with branches. Although they can appear anywhere on the body, spider veins are usually found on the face and legs. In general they pose no health hazard, but may cause a dull aching or burning in the legs after prolonged standing.
The cause of spider veins is not completely known. In many cases, there appears to be a genetic disposition. Also, reports have shown that pregnancy, hormonal changes, weight gain, leg injury or prolonged standing may influence their occurrence.
What is laser vein removal?
Laser technology offers a very effective means of treating spider veins. The laser has a unique ability to selectively target blood vessels without adversely affecting surrounding tissues. Laser light is specifically absorbed by the spider veins. The vessels are gently heated, causing the blood in the vessels to clot. The body reabsorbs the treated blood vessels during the natural healing process.
How long do treatments take?
The laser beam can deliver energy to a large area with each pulse, so laser vein removal takes just a few minutes to treat each discolored vein.
How many treatments will I need?
Depending upon the severity of the veins, you may require between 1 and 3 laser treatments, spaced at 6 weeks apart. The treatment is performed on the existing blood vessels, diminishing or completely eliminating their appearance. However, any new developing veins cannot be prevented. If you body tends to develop vascular problems, you will probably have to return for further treatments.
Does it hurt?
Most people describe laser vein removal as mildly uncomfortable but not painful. However, we can provide anesthetic to our patients who request it.
What happens to the skin after the treatment?
Patients may experience some temporary redness, swelling or bruising. This doesn't happen often, and is typically gone within a few hours. Others may experience pigmentary changes in skin color, but these will disappear and return to normal over time. Since laser treatment does not burn or cut the skin in any way, no bandages are necessary, and you can return to your normal activities immediately.
What are the alternatives to laser vein removal?
Sclerotherapy is the most commonly used method of non-laser vein removal. Like laser treatment, it is relatively inexpensive and can be performed on an outpatient basis. A concentrated saline or specially-developed chemical solution is injected into the spider vein. The solution washes over the tiny cells which line the inner wall of the blood vessel. The solution dries out the cells, causing them to shrink and leaving them unable to carry blood. Eventually, the blood vessels disappear by a natural cleaning of the body.
